Initial Setup

Configure Homebrew

Update the PATH variable in ~/.bashrc file:

export PATH=$PATH:/opt/homebrew/bin

System Settings

• External Mouse
  • Apple logo -> System Settings -> Mouse
  • Secondary Click -> Click Right Side
  • Increase Tracking speed by 1.
  • Swipe between full-screen applications -> on.
• External Keyboard
  • Apple logo -> System Settings -> Keyboard
  • Text input -> Edit (Input Sources) -> Correct spelling automatically -> off.
• Device Name
  • Apple logo -> System Settings -> General -> About
• Siri
  • Apple logo -> System Settings -> Siri & Spotlight
  • Ask Siri -> on.
  • Listen for "Hey Siri" on headphones -> on.
  • Keyboard Shortcut -> Option + Space.
  • Siri Voice -> American Voice 4.
• Deskop & Dock
  • Size -> Reduce by half.
  • Magnification -> Set to half.
  • Minimize windows into application icon -> on.
  • Stage Manager -> on.
    • Customize -> Desktop Items -> on.
  • Group windows by application -> on.
• Wallpaper -> Choose yours
• Energy Saver -> Start up automatically after a power failure -> on.
• Lock Screen
  • Turn display off when inactive -> 1 hour.
  • Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off -> Immediately.
• Login Password -> Apple Watch (to unlock) -> on.
• Users & Groups -> Change user image if needed.
• Internet Accounts -> iCloud -> Advanced Data Protection -> on.
  • This will require a few months after initial setup.
• Printers and Scanners -> Add Printer
• Time Machine
  • Apple logo -> System Settings -> General -> Time Machine.
  • Used for backups and requires an external drive.
