Steps used to create Cool Bytes logo in InkScape
Canvas Size
- Open a blank document in InkScape.
- Go to
File -> Document Propertiesand selectDisplaytab. - Change the
Widthto 250 andHeightto 200 of the Canvas.
Block Shape
- Select
Polygonwith 4 corners and useCTRL+SHIFTto create a Rhombus shaped block. - Convert the block to path by selecting
Path -> Object to Path - In order to get rounded corners, select
Path -> Path Effects. - In the window that's opened, click
+and search forCornersand add it. - Use the
Nodestool and select 2 of the adjacent corners of the square to make the corners rounded. - Clone the square 3 times, but make one of the rounded corners of one of the squares as sharp.
- Use
rotationtool to rotate the squares.
Layer 1 (Actual Colored Squares)
- Add following colors to each square:
- Blue (Top Square) -
#2d618cff - Green (Left Square) -
#3d9970ff - Red (Right Square) -
#8c3636ff
- Blue (Top Square) -
- Add a circle at the intersection, with the color:
#ffd343ff - Group the blocks into a single object for easy movement.
Layer 2 (White Background Squares)
You can try using
Path -> Linked Offsetbut it requires a little more effort, since this doesn't work on grouped objects.
- Create white squares similar to colored ones but with a little higher size, so that it's visible behind the colored square.
- Use exact same process as colored ones, such as corners, grouping etc.
- Use colored blocks to refine border radius and border width.
Layer 3 (Shadow Squares)
- Clone Layer 2 group and change a few settings:
- Change Color to Black
- Change Blur to 15%
- Change Opacity to 50%
