Netgear Extender

Info

Model Name: Netgear EX6110 Extender

Setup

  • Reset the router by long-pressing the Reset button for upto 7 blinks on the power indicator.
  • Let the device restart and let the red power button turn green.
  • Now press the WPS button on the extender, and it should start blinking.
  • Similarly, press the WPS button on the router, and it should start blinking as well.
  • Wait for some time until the blinking stops on both devices.
  • You should now see the extender connected to the router in the devices list and make a note of the local IP address (Something like 192.168...).
  • Open the above local IP address in the browser on any device.

If your router uses a smart setup (a single network for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands), it's recommended to set up your extender to broadcast both bands. But if you really insist on having a single broadcast from your extender, make sure the enabled band matches with the connection between extender and router. Else it may not work.

  • Select "New Extender Setup" and add details for the Extender. (Note that this registration is not for the Netgear account but for the Extender itself. And it is required everytime you reset it.)
  • Follow the subsequent steps in the registration and your extender will be setup successfully.
  • Confirm your internet connection by connecting to extender Wi-Fi.

Customizing the extender router

  • To manage the extender settings or configuration, connect to its network first.
  • Then, navigate to https://www.mywifiext.net, to make desired changes.
    • If this doesn't work, use the local IP address such as 192.168...
  • Also, by default basic configuration is used, you may also choose to use FastLane connection instead.
    • Recommended and the one that works well for FastLane connection is this:
      • Router to Extender should be 5G
      • Extender to Devices should be 2.4G
